The correlation between BMI and body fatness is relatively strong but when two people have the same BMI then we can say that their level of body fatness may differ.

What is normal BMI for a healthy body?

Many people want to know the average BMI. According to the research, BMI from 18.5 to 24.9 contains the normal or Healthy Weight range. However, the BMI scale from  25.0 to 29.9 may fall within the overweight range. In case BMI is 30.0 or higher then it contains the obese range.

Generally, the number of calories taken by people for eating and drinking purposes has a direct effect on their weight. Therefore, carrying the same number of calories that your body burns over time, then you can say that your weight stays stable. In case you take calories more than your body burns, the weight goes up and it has a major effect on your BMI. For instance, if athletes and people have a higher level of muscle mass, then it may generate BMI calculations. It is basically designed for BMI overweight or even obese in spite of their high level of fitness. Therefore, it’s important for athletes or others to talk to their doctors to make sure about the Body Mass Index.

Energy Balance to maintain BMI (Body Mass Index):

No doubt, energy balance is a major factor to maintain a healthy body weight as well as BMI (Body Mass Index). Generally, the amount of energy that you take (energy IN) is balanced with the energy your body uses for such things as breathing, digesting, and being physically active (energy OUT)

How to determine BMI for energy balance?

Following is the BMI calculation formula for energy balance. Let’s find:
Amount of energy that takes IN and Out over time =  weight stays the same
  • If you take more energy IN than OUT over time, then we can say that it is equal to weight gain
  • However, in case you carry more energy OUT than IN over time then it is equal to weight loss
To maintain a balanced diet for BMI, your energy IN and OUT shouldn’t have to balance the same every day. Thus, it’s necessary to balance over time which helps you to maintain your BMI. Now you can easily reach and even maintain a healthy body weight if:
  • You have to follow a healthy diet plan, and if you are overweight or obese, then you should daily intake of 500 calories for weight loss
