Odd numbers: Odd numbers are those numbers that on division by 2, always leave a remainder of 1. For example: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 … so on are odd numbers.

In this method, you just have to round to the nearest whole number. Using the “floor method”, all numbers will only go down, no matter what is the dropped digit. For example:

- If you have 7.8 then you will turn it into 7. You cannot turn it into 8 as with the case of normal round off.

This works just in the opposite direction of the floor method. As celling represents something that is up therefor in the same way you will use “goes up” strategy only. For example, if you have 7.1 then you have to make it 8 only (goes up).

Under this strategy, if the unit of the given number is smaller than five, then you will follow the “round down” rule. If the given number is greater than 5, then “round-up” will be applicable. For example:

- If you have a number 32 then it will be round off as 30 according to the “goes down” rule.
- If you have a number 38 then you will turn it into 40 according to the “goes up” rule.

If the tens digit in the given number is lesser than 50 then you will apply the “round down” rule but if the tens digit is 50 or greatest then 50, round up will be applied. For example, if you have a number 834 then the ten is “34” that is less than 50 so you will round down the number to 800. In the same way in the case of 871, the tense is “71” that is greater than 50, so the number will be transformed into 900.

- If the given number is 2431 and you have to round off to the nearest ten, then it will be 4230.
